The 'Chun Li' box with no Chun Li inside
As I mentioned in my previous post, I received a box last Monday. It arrived while I’m still at work, so my brother who happened to be on leave that day helped me accepted it. While he was accepting the box, the deliveryman demanded a cash of $43 for 7% GST (Goods and Services Tax) and $5 handling fee (not sure what is this for). According to the deliveryman, if we purchased things from oversea that the total cost more than S$300 and was delivered to Singapore, the things would be GST payable.

Now I need to pay some cash back to my brother... =_=
For this case, the figures inside the box cost S$500 plus (didn’t notice it cost this much while purchasing online, need to control next time). Not all of the figures were mine, some were my brother’s. ^^; This is my first time paying tax for the figures I ordered oversea and it’s quite a surprise for me.

Finally got hold of MM and the other MM belonged to my brother
After this incident, I started to look for figures at Singapore. After looking through a few local shops’ website, I found out that actually I could pay lesser than those I ordered from Hobby Search after shipment fee was included. The main reason for this to happen was due to the conversion rate between Singapore dollar and Japanese yen. The yen seems to increase everyday like there’s no tomorrow. =_=
Since many people already know about those popular local shops such as ToyNToys and KKnM, I would like to take this chance to recommend another local shop. The shop is called Black Technology, which is located near Bedok bus interchange. The price of the figures sold here seems to be quite reasonable, only slightly higher than ToyNToys for some figures. They may not have as many stock and variety as those popular shops, but it can act as another alternative if the figures you want are out of stock at those popular shops. Currently, their shop do not require deposit for pre-ordering figures which may consider an attraction to pre-order with them. They also sell parts for PCs and gadgets for military use.
I had cancelled most of my pre-orders with Hobby Search, including those I mentioned earlier. However, I will still pre-order from Hobby Search for those not available in Singapore and maybe more if the Japanese yen drops a lot.
Yes, the JPY jumping so high is a killer. I only have 1 figure in December from them, but 2 in January and both are pretty much killers. Shipping will kill unless the dollar exchange drops. :\
I had canceled 10+ nos of figures (shared between me and my brother) and ordered them from local shops instead. Only left 2 in Jan and 2 in Mar. Shipping really kills. =_=
can order early sometimes got early bird… more % off but figure price all depends on JPY…
I’m amazed they still have the pvc version of MM, I thought it was kinda of rare. Nice loot
@ zh3us,
Ya, everything still depends on JPY.
@ Zeneva,
Missed her twice already. When I saw Hobby Search restocked her, I immediately purchased it.
If you use vpost, you would not be required to pay that 7% GST even though the total cost is > $300 unless one of the item by itself is > $300.
Is it? Didn’t know about this.
Hmm, very cognitive post.
Is this theme good unough for the Digg?
Not sure. I didn’t try before.
